Well Donna, since I see that your nesting box question has been extensively
answered (though I too do not use nesting boxes, nor allow any sort of
box/can/etc in the tank while the pups still have their eyes closed) I will
concentrate on the second half of your question. The average, and pretty
standard gestation period for gerbils is 24 days. From experience I've
noticed that pregnancy can be fairly apparent from handling the female up to
10 days before birth, however, pregnancy is not usually visibly noticable
until just a few days before the big event. I hope this helps.
