There isn't much, you can do. Often gerbils with overgrown teeth have lost
one of there incissors most often by accident, or perhaps with any other but
inpredictable tooth decay (uncertain, what the reason might be, sugar
shouldn't contribute to this, because all sugared things should be forbidden
to feed anyway).
The upper and lower incissors mainly sharpen and shorten themselves, when
they whet against each other.
