I feed my pregnant & nursing moms a supplement of mealworms. I allow them to
eat as many as they want. Sometimes they only want one, other times the will
eat quite a few. I try to give the mealworms daily. I also, allow the pups
to have some when they feel up to it. The mealworms are a superior source of
protein and I feel that it is important to supplement this nutrient when my
gerbils are under such physical stress as nursing, pregnancy, and simply
trying to grow up can put on a critter.
