I will have to agree with TJ and Paige on this one. The overly dramaticized
"scare-tactics" emplored by A.G. et. al, are quite childish and
unappreciated. The local post office here is all too happy to ship my
gerbils. And they love to meet them when delivering them to me as well. My
rural carrier even went out of her way to deliver the latest gerb from Paige
straight to my workplace first thing when I left a note on my door saying I
couldn't be home to accept the package.
And for those who claim to know the laws in this country, there is a tiny
little amendment to this thing we have called the Constitution, which
provides protection from "cruel and unusual punishment". If someone tried
to fine you $100,000 for shipping a gerbil, a judge would laugh the minute
that came across his bench.

I wouldn't be so dramatic, A. Gangi. This is extremely rare that it happens,
and if so it's only by poor packaging. I've practically yelled at people for
packaging poorly, and told them the dangers. I don't ship a lot, but when I
do
I'm VERY safe about it. So I think it's more about the person behind the
shipping, not the shipping itself.
