Another vote for HavaHart.  (Get the right size for gerbils.)

I rented one after two escapees had been loose 2-3 days.  They were both
captured with an hour or so.  I called the store and asked if I could keep
the trap and they keep the $20 deposit.

It's failed only once, and that little fellow was outdoors.
