I'd never have gotten to post
some stories about my animals. That second list gives me an outlet for that sort of thing. If I were to post such a thing on this list, I'd get reprimanded right and left. I don't want that, and I'm sure no one else
wants an inbox full of nothing but complaints.

I agree with this. After the past week I have thought long and hard
about what I should and should not post on GML. There are cute little
stories that I would have liked to share, but did not. As it stands too
many members of GML don't want the "fluff". the problem is that there are
a lot who want someone to share this stuff with, and lets face it most people in
our lives don't care about our gerbil experiences.
How can you or anyone else call the second list a bad
thing if it allows people to get things like that out of their system and
entertain other people?<--
As I stated in a previous post there are several options. However,
many people have complained that GML was getting carried away and that a change
was needed. So it happened. Without SGML either those who were
dissatisfied with the "fluff" would have to put up with it, or those who wanted
to "share", stories, feelings, and experiences would have to stop those posts,
or take the risk of complaints.
Last statement: As I said I feel that it is important that a there is
a discussion, and a final decision. As it stands now with our a statement
some, especially new members will continue to fill GML with their
stories... We would simply have two groups, and much of the content
would be crossed. Those of us here at the beginning know what SGML was
intended to do, but in a month or two there will be new members.
If the GML Charter going to change? Is it going to prohibit social
exchange? Is the SGML Charter going to state that emergencies, technical,
health, and breeding questions need to be directed to GML?
I think that SGML could be a good thing and serve the community well.
My only concern is how do we make the distinction clear between the two
groups? I don't want to belong to two lists that end up covering the same
territory. There does need to be some technical discussion of how and what
should be done. Right now there have only been a hand full that have
expressed their opinions.
