Actually, for three months the original 20 or so members of GML simply
copied one another into their posts. When that worked and proved useful,
Sharon arranged for a proper listserver to take over. The GML was
trailed with its users before it was launched.

How can we have compromise when the principle of consensus that has
served the GML so well for five years been abandoned at the outset of
this exercise?
