Really, from what I've seen there's a large difference in marking
and mating. Marking, my gerbs will usually chase the other one
around, mount, and kind of rub their belly on the other, then
usually they start grooming their scent gland patch. Mating, a
gerbil will mount, make almost vibrating motions, and check
their, um, "parts."
