I have been bitten four times. Once as a kid, when I wouldn't leave new pups alone,
and "dad" got protective. Once when I grabbed an escaped gerbil from above and behind
where she couldn't see me. That was not a smart thing to do as their instincts are to
fear anything reaching down on them from above. Birds of prey, you know. I've been
bitten twice trying to separate fights. These are all understandable and I don't
consider any of them one bit the fault of the gerbil.
