I have 2 male gerbils and 2 females. Both females and
one of my males are siblings. They had been together
as very young pups and once we had them sexed we
removed the male and got him a companion. The males
have been together for about a week or so now without
the divider and seem to be getting along fine. Today
my daughter went to get the male Chocolate Chip out to
play and his nose was bloody so we thought that maybe
the older male companion had been mean to him.
Then we noticed that the two females also had bloody
noses. They of course are in their own tank. Only
the new male Peanut Butter does not have a bloody
nose. I use Carefresh and corn cob bedding.
Since the females have bloody noses, can I assume that
the two males are not hurting each other. The only
other strange thing is that the older male often
doesn't allow the younger male to leave their igloo.
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Coriena
