Ok, here I am again, with 3 new pups and another question. My
original 2 (Jerry and Mrs. Jerry) bred and she had pups this a.m. I
found one half eaten and on the other side of the tank as the nest.
I brought the tank where I could give it constant surveillance and
jerry is taking the pups out of the nest and it appears as if he is
eating them. The one I took from him had a small blood spot on its
side. Not knowing what to do, I took Jerry out of the cage. I just
did that now. Is this appropriate? Remember, Jerry lived by himself
for 3 years and then I got him a "male" cage mate (which was a
female. Their first litter, one was stillborn and the rest lived
about 5 hours and then I found them 1/2 eaten...before I thought they
had died, now I am wondering if he did not kill them then. He seems
much happier with a cage mate, should I get him a real boy? Or just
what? Should I put him back in with mom? If not, will mom be ok (she
only has 3) without dad? I gave Jerry a bunch of cardboard (he is a
cardboard nut) and he seems fine in his new cage. Help (once again!!)
Thanks, Cindy
