This is a Honey Cream gerbil. I have been breeding this color for about one
year. The intensity of color can range from white with only light traces of
orange to more extensive coverage. The main differance between theis and a
normal DEH is that the base of the hair shaft is white with orange in the
middle of the hair shaft. When the gerbil matures she may develope brown
ticking on the orange hair shafts.
I this color seems to be dominant in that when two Honey Cream gerbils are
mated they will produce almost 100% Honey Cream babies. The only other color
I gave gotten from a HC x HC mating was normal DEH.
I beleive that it is the ch gene that is responsible for this color
variation when combiled with the Spsp gene. Based on my own genetic stock I
think that this little girl is Cch. None of my gerbils carrie the cb gene.

PS -- thanks for all the replies on moving my gerbils into one room.
