Pretty important : Squabbling gerbs again

Hi all,

I've just heard from my friend who was gerbil monitor at school (long time
back...) and he said that occassionally his gerbs would fight and draw
blood, but they never killed eachother.

Have I done the right thing by separating them? Should I put them back
together? They've been apart for about 8 hours now.
