Hi!
I live in the UK and you can get a food made especially for Gerbils as it has
the correct nutritional specification for them apparently, most importantly
it has less fat content that hamster mix.
I know you wont be able to get it but I will list the contents so that it
might help you choose your ingredients to use in your own mix.
All my Gerbils are really sleek and healthy and I have noticed if I run out
of the Gerbil food and give them Hamster food(I Keep Hamsters and Gerbils and
buy different foods for them) that they put on weight almost immediately due
to the high proportion of sunflower seeds and peanuts.
It is written with the largest proportin of ingredient first.
Wheat extrusions
Alfalfa Pellets
Flaked peas
Flaked Maize
Torrified Wheat
Hipro Soya
Naked Oats
Whole Maize
Carrots
Linseed lozenges
Poultry meat extrusions
Pumpkin seeds(4%)
