I usually use a high-quality commercial gerbil/hamster
mix, with the sunflower seeds picked out and saved for
treats, supplemented with oats, dried corn, pumpkin
seeds, and raisins. You can buy all of these things
in bulk at health food stores, or even some normal
grocery stores. I also add in crumbled organic,
non-sweetened, whole grain graham crackers. I bought
some on a health kick a couple of months ago and just
couldn't stand them...but guess what, the gerbs love
them! :)
Has anyone else found that their adult gerbils don't
eat very many of those teeny little seeds you find in
rodent mixes? Is it worth putting them in the cage at
all, or are the gerbs eating them and I'm just not
noticing?
Thanks again
Sondra
