Hi Joe, First of all Congratulations!
I usually start handling the pups at 6-7 days old.
Be very careful to take them out fully enclosed in two
hands and hold them directly over a pillow. The are
surprisingly fast and athletic. If you're not careful
they will leap from your hands and get head damage.
Also, be careful of handling them the day (and days
after) the eyes open. They can be nervous and jittery
adjusting to site and I have had them leap away and
take off like a shot (where just prior to open eyes
they were calm and relaxed with me). The come back to
there old selves in a couple days.
Enjoy them,
Donna
