Hand out neat things, and audience participation.
Just deleted an Emergency Vets program where the forty odd year
old grey haired co-owner of the practice had to go give a bit on
the career of Veternary Medicine to middle schoolers. His approach
was to to bring some unusual x rays and bring kids up and ask
them a few simple questions (and he stuck disposable OR masks
and hair caps on them that they got to keep). Then he did a short
Q&A from written questions and a few from the audience.
Short, simple, fun, and cool. I also have a 10 and a 12 year
old next door, I'll ask them about what they like...if you like?
