Well, we are 3 in a household with 23 gerbils and we *do*
run out of things for them to chew.
I buy cheap simple paper plates, if we run low and they love
chewing those and they don't cost much (100 for a dollar).
We don't use boxes with print on them, though, because we
compost the gerbil bedding and don't want the ink in it.
I'm also never sure which ink is safe for gerbils and which
isn't.
