Well, I guess it depends on the family line. I did do one
inbreeding with one set of siblings and ended up with a line of gerbils that was
prone to seizures. Even when outcrossed. It really put a kink into my breeding
program. I basically had to start all over with new breeding stock.
It has been said on the list, that one should not allow
inbreeding for more than three generations. Perhaps my experience is an
exception. I just know I won't be doing that again ;)
