Re: neutering gerbils

Donte, the father of the babies will bite me if I even look at him (but he isn't a mean gerbil.....he has never bitten Aaron my boyfriend) and the mother has only bitten me once (and that was just when I got to close to the babies when I was changing the food dish...but man was that a good one...she wouldn't let go) But Jaws will sometimes nip the middle of my hand (that's where I usually put a treat....and he is great once I give him a sunflower seed) But that is all my experience with biting :)   ----- My current little boy, Percil, is the sweetest thing!  He will not bite ever.  He climbs up in my hand and falls asleep.  I walk around the house cleaning etc. with a limp cuddly gerbil in one hand.  He is perfectly healthy, just so sweet.  What went right?  His little brown mate will not hesitate to give a little nip if she is displeased.  (Percil's one bad habil is nails.  He LOVES nails.  He will lie in my hand being all sweet, but his eyes are on my nail, and as soon as it is close enough, he grabs my finger with both hands, holds on TIGHTLY and bites right through my poor nail.. he seems to think it's sport.   Anyone have a gerbil who acts similar?   --Melanie, Percil 'n' the ever-chaste Kippy Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
