Elderly gerbils should be given additional foods that are easy to eat, in case they have a hard time shelling seeds. Also, give foods that are new such as those that are grain based and soft vegetables. Gerbils are almost always interested in new foods. Watch them as they drink or shred paper you should see two upper and two lower teeth.
