Yes, it is possible. Unfortunately I can't tell when it is the best age to do it, because I got a gerbil already neutered. A friend of mine thougt that she had two girls until the two had pups .... so she had the male neutered because she did not want more pups. After she had found places for the pups she gave me the pair, because she did not have enough time any more to care for them. The neuterd male lived in good health and without any problems up to an age of nearly 5(!) years. After his cagemate had died it was no problem at all to put him together with another female. -maria-
