Hi The "$ get_iplayer --update" command hasn't worked properly for ages. It gives instructions to download a deb package... >From "http://linuxcentre.net/get_iplayer/packages/get-iplayer-current.deb"; But the package that gets downloaded won't install. Maybe the "$ get_iplayer --update" option should be disabled and removed from --help menu.
