> I have a 3dfx banshee card I can try with kgicon is that likely to work?
Hmm - I can't tell from experience. kgicon has a banshee driver, but I have
no idea how stable it is. Maybe someone on the list knows more.
Could you join the list ? It will give you a broader audience - maybe other
PPC users or banshee users.
> I have tried fbdev with GGI
I.e. the kernel has a working fb driver ? i.e. you can cat /some/junk to
/dev/fb and the screen will alter ?

Yeah. If fb works, it should work. Could you try to find the location of the
crash ? Is it a "hard crash" (machine locks) or just an application crash ?
GGI_DEBUG=255 will help in tracking it, as well strace and gdb for analyzing
the core.
> Here is the raw compile output of kgicon vganc (vga gives identical output)
Yeah - the vganc is not very different - it just avoids a few glitches that
some not-quite-compatible VGAs exhibit.

I'll have a look later.

O.k. - as you seem to have a supported board, I'd say we should investigate
it.
> this leaves KGIcon, fbdev and KGI (is that all options?).
Yeah - except for X server (eventually using DGA to fill the whole screen).

Yeah. So you have an x86 system to compare to ? Good.
Join our ML - we'll try to sort that out. I'm sure there are some people on
the list that have valueable advice.
