When you are using a regular fbdev driver (as opposed to KGIcon)
LibGGI is a good citicen and reads /etc/fb.modes like other fbdev
programs. See fb.modes(5) for more info, and also check out the
modeline2fb script which can be found in the degas/kgicon/util/fbset
directory.

First you'll need to upgrade to a recent snapshot (2000-06-03 or
later) though, as before then LibGGI wasn't as good a citicen at
all. ;)
