Not 100% correct. PhoeniX is for now intended as an _experimental_
project-internal server to have something to play with KGI-0.9.
It's an X11R6.4 server based on the XFree-4.0 distribution, but not
relying on XFree-4.0 device dependent (ddx) code. It's just the server
cut out of the XF40 distribution, in order to reduce build time considerably.
XGGI development is still in the trustworthy hands of Marcus, who
is, however busy with libGGI development at the moment.
