I still love using libggi. I can develop everything I like in svgalib
and jump to X11 every once in a while to aid in debugging. Also,
libgii is really useful to me.

What I'd like to see is that a tarball with the current lib/libggi and
lib/libgii would be released as a _stable_ release. These two
libraries don't need any fixes to be released; they've been stable for
ages. The ggi-devel tarball is too big for most people. A new stable
release would attract a lot of new users. Being a trained libggi user
;), I'd love to help newbies out.

Note that there is the channel #ggi on the open projects IRC network.
A list of servers can be obtained from http://openprojects.net/, try
irc.openprojects.net if you're lazy. I hereby invite all newbies to
bug me with questions there.

Being part of a demogroup, I have released quite some intros over the
past months (see http://vengeance.et.tudelft.nl/intro/), and they all
work with libggi (best viewed on svgalib target because of syncing to
VR). A lot of people bug me about the libggi requirements telling
that libggi is near to dead; yet I keep using it and enjoying it.
There are quite some things that libggi does much better than any
other library. (For example making svgalib work on X11, and
supporting zillions of targets.)

Also, I've been doing some work on a gui library in Common Lisp based
on GGI. I wouldn't want to have to port this to X11 and lose all
compatibility that I have now :(

Please whip up a TODO list for things you'd like to see happening with
ggi, and we'll all help :) If someone would introduce me a little into
writing libggi extensions, I could write zoom and rotation targets, if
anyone is interested in that.

On a sidenote, I'd like to see someone think out a way to combine
sound and graphics -- is this part of the console system formerly
known as EvStacks? (Whatever happened to that?)

Hm, sorry for this chaotic mail, I just had to send out some positive
thoughts ASAP :)

Thanks !
