Ubuntu's universe repository mirrors Debian unstable every 6 months or so, but that then only goes into the very latest Ubuntu release unless someone does a backport. You have to be careful about mixing Debian and Ubuntu packages with total abandon, but people do it all the time. If you want to use the Debian GHDL package under Ubuntu, you can try installing it straight from the Debian package, or you could try rebuilding from the Debian source package yourself on your system, or you could install directly from the Debian unstable repository, etc. If you get stuck, I would be happy to help. -- Wesley J.
