fcntl based file locking is hard to get right for an application: It locks only other processes but not other threads. Reading from another thread even does an unlock. flock does not work on NFS and may create a race. Thus it is not the Hurd's fault. Shalom-Salam, Werner -- Die Gedanken sind frei.
