Taking in tif's from vuescan, would like to save PNG's. These are medical slides that will end up being used for presentations.
TIFF files are 16-bit grayscale. Save As -> PNG seems to leave me with 8-bit:
LT-07-post-t-and-ac-tooth-in-l-piniform-sinux.png:
PNG image data, 5053 x 3489, 8-bit grayscale, non-interlaced
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The loss in resolution going from scans to VGA projector will be bad enough for the image quality, I'd like to have them at 16-bit gray if possible.
Checking the PNG standard, it seems to support 16b gray.
Q: is there any way to force Gimp-1.2.2 to save PNG's with 16-bit gray?
thanx
