Linux only understands linear time.  Linux thinks the newly created files are actually 
older - as
say they are.  (Since every file has a creation time and modification time stored, and 
in your
case would appear to be set in the future).

Since it has decided all the files are upto date, it doesn't bother to recompile them. 
delete the old source tree before you install a new one.

An alternative is the 'touch' all the files, this command sets the timestamp on a file 
to the
current time.
