Review Comment:
   > copying as many bytes as possible at once is always better, without 
considering the complexity introduced.
   
   Unless I am misunderstanding the only difference is eliding a capacity 
check, both methods will perform the same memcpy operations. The compiler can't 
coalesce writes in either case as they're from potentially non-contiguous 
source regions.
