Ended up using your suggestion here. To clarify on the additional dependency
portion -- apparently the `is_zero()` function is provided by the `num_traits`
crate, and not by std, which confused me for a good while there. Since
`arrow`schema` doesn't use that, it doesn't have access to that function.
Personally that's a bit annoying, since the function signatures are the same,
the logic should be the same there imo. But, I ended up using your suggestion
with the optional, looks better to me!
