Review Comment:
   Added in 1e392c5c2. `[[nodiscard]]` fits here -- the guard's contract 
depends on
   the caller checking the result, and the attribute is already used elsewhere 
in
   this subsystem (for example `include/mgmt/config/ConfigContext.h`).
