I think this doesn't look very recognizable or sticks out, simple
because there are some basic similarities between all the Dock-Icons:

1. Strong colors
2. Strong strokes, often rounded at corners
3. One simple letter/word maybe, as big as possible

One thing you could try would be to improve the current logo, by
colorizing the +++ and --- lines with green/red for example. Or changing
the background.

The logo of gity is a good example:

Using a less distinctive logo would be a disadvantage imho.
