Peter, in answer to your question, I encourage you to visit the following sites:
Visit <www.tutormentorexchange.net> and you can see how we're piloting uses of GIS maps and interactive databases to draw people from a geographic area to work together, or to draw others to help provide resources to all of the programs serving areas of need. Visit <www.tutormentorconnection.org> and you'll see how we're collecting and sharing information related to where tutor/mentor programs are needed, ways business and professional groups might get involved, and ways people can use this information to innovate new solutions to old problems. The Tutor/Mentor Connection is a very small non profit, supported by more than 100 volunteers and a variety of donors. Our web sites are an invitation for people to work with us and each other. I look forward to learning how others are approaching this issue. Daniel F. Bassill President Cabrini Connections Tutor/Mentor Connection 800 W.
