In 2004 had glasses made with Hoya 1.60 Aspheric - I had to return them after headaches and a near miss with a large bus - too much distortion.
We also did a trivex pair in 2004, the lenses were thin but I had some gradations - like the layers of an onion affect when looked through at an angle - they were stolen shortly afterward. Within the past 12 months, I've had five pairs made; two pair with Seiko 1.67 (I think in MR-10 resin) - one of those tinted and stolen within weeks, another from myopticalshop.com in 1.67 aspheric (don't know the brand) but maybe 80% as good as my Seiko's) and recently, I've had two pairs made from two different makers here in Italy (where I'm currently living). Both of the glasses here were sunglasses. The tinting was very good, no purple color, but the lenses were completely unworkable. Like walking around with binoculars on your face - try skiing with that. They would not tell me the brand of the lenses but I felt they were quite inferior to what I've had in the US. FYI: 1.67 aspheric lenses here cost about 160 euro, about what they cost in the b&m shops in the US. However, designer frames are consistently 30-50% less than in the US.
