I'm not an expert, but I think your flatter lenses have a lower base
curve.  Some people are more sensitive to variations in base curve
than others.  I've also heard it can be more of an issue for people
with higher prescriptions.  If you search the forums for 'base curve,'
there's a good amount of info on this subject.
