First off let me say this group was very very helpful. After my first post members of the group informed me that 39dollarglasses is known to take 4-6 weeks to return glasses instead of the 3-5 business days like they advertise. So I waited instead of disputing the charge on my credit card like I planned to after not getting my glasses back for 3 weeks. Needless to say, I called 39dollarglasses more than a couple of times. Many times only getting a ringing phone or that music you get after the automated system picks up and tells you customer service is too busy to take your call but will you "please hold."
My frames and new lenses were physically in my hands on 16 Feb 2010. So, lets recap: 39dollarglasses received my frames on January 6, '10 and returned them on February 16, 2010. Quality of the work they did (placing new lenses in my new frames): B. The lenses were of the same quality that I would expect from any local retailer (in fact better than some I've dealt with over the years). I did save some money by using 39dollarglasses.com but the savings to me just wasn't worth the time it took to for them to perform the work. Customer Service/Communications: F. Because of my prescription I had to call in my order and speak with a CS person as opposed to placing the order via their website. CS knew my prescription and could have informed me at that time it was going to take longer to fill my order and get my glasses back to me. I been asking myself what would happen to e-commerce if when people purchased a product online it took 4-6 weeks to receive your order. How long would Amazon & Ebay last? Yea, I know glasses are more personalized but they are still very common. Overall Experience: C I believe I will buy glasses online again. But I would definitely try other vendors before going back to 39dollarglasses.com. However, if they ever get their turnaround time to the time frame they have advertised, 3-5 business days, I would have no problem trying them again. Note: I bought my frames at a local retailer and sent them to 39dollarglasses to have lenses placed into them, which I'm glad I did. I like being able to go back to the retailer and have him/her adjust my glasses to fit properly. I didn't want to have to do this myself. So I think this will be the way I'll order glasses online in the future.
