First off, congratulations for deciding to take the plunge.  Your first pair
is always the hardest.

Now, let's talk.  If I understand you correctly, you're basically saying
that you think your new prescription is incorrect, and you want someone to
agree with you.

Do you have any reason to think your new prescription is wrong?

You're absolutely right about -0.50 being a mild correction, but it can also
be the difference between clear and streaky vision while driving at night.
But, the fact that it *is* a mild, but new addition to your prescription
implies that it's a small and incremental change that happened.  It's
believable.

Unless you have reason to think that it's wrong, I would get it filled.  If
you're that concerned about it, talk to your doctor again and let him/her
know your concerns.  Discuss it with them.  That's what they're there for.
