I recently attempted to order glasses from EyeBuyDirect and
39DollarGlasses and the experiences weren't good. Here's what
happened.

I ordered the Vincent frame from EyeBuyDirect and I got them in a
reasonable amount of time but when I tried them on, they didn't fit
right, especially in the temple arms. The description on the site
said they measurements were 50-20-144, with the latter measurement
being important to me because I need temples longer than the 140 most
frames have. When I got the frame, the temples were too short and
when I looked at the measurements inside the frame, they were
50-18-140. I sent them a clear picture of the inside of the temple
arm which showed the name of the frame and measurements. I've sent
them back and now I'm waiting on my refund, which hasn't been credited
yet. I don't like the fact I have to pay for shipping because if I
had known that frame had 140 temples, I'd have never ordered it.

My next fiasco was with 39DollarGlasses.com. I ordered the Edmonton
frame because it had the longer temples and when it came, the frame
literally fell apart. A screw popped out of where the temple attaches
to the front of the frame and the lens came out. One thing I noticed
was the screw on that side of the frame was put in from the bottom and
the other side, the screw was put in from the top. Makes me wonder if
the frame was assembled properly. I also think the lens might be too
big for the frame and it was forced together. Very poor workmanship.
In addition, I tried to use the $15 discount offered on GlassyEyes and
even though it showed up in the check out when I ordered, the invoice
Emailed to me didn't show that discount and my credit card was billed
for that amount. This company did make good glasses at one time and I
think they've gone down hill. Now I'm going to find out how good
their exchange practices are.

I've had good luck in the past with online glasses from these
companies, not sure what has gone wrong. If I continue to buy online,
might have to stick with CoastalContacts or GlassesUSA, but wonder if
maybe all online glasses companies are going this way.
