There was an announcement in the New York Times today of a new
political group being formed called Scientists and Engineers for
America. I noticed that one of the founders was Michael MacCracken,
who has decades of experience on the climate change problem. Here are
links to the story and to their web page/blog:

>From my experience with electoral politics, including work on several
Presidential campaigns, I can only hope that they have success with
their efforts. Most people in politics have short time horizons, ie,
the next election, which makes it extremely difficult for them to deal
with long term problems.
