The survivors write the histories. I want to recommend starting somewhere a focused discussion that chooses to be our best attempt at working toward the future that we hope happens.
It'd take serious moderation, beyond anything I see done most places. I can think of several weblogs that I think of along these lines. None make everyone happy; some have turned away vehement writers whose ideas and politics I may agree with, because they lose their tempers and lose their cutting edge and start bludgeoning. So I' know some won't like these examples. Take them as examples, though, of people focused on the future and not entertaining the trolls at all. http://www.kenmacleod.blogspot.com/ (source of the quote in the Subject line, if it fit) http://davidbrin.blogspot.com/ http://nielsenhayden.com/makinglight/ Add to those the personal blogs of many of the climate scientists, you all who are here already. This Globalchange group might go the way I'm talking about --- could well, it's been getting more interesting and less clogged up. This is just "may it happen" musing and encouragement for moderation and a serious urging that here --- or somewhere --- we start to have a focused, large, growing conversation talking about what _does_ lead to a future worth living in, for those who will get there. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Global Change ("globalchange") newsgroup.
