Hank, I think this is a great idea, but what's the focus? If it's the
future we're dealing with, won't it be a policy-based thing? And then
there's the question of whether it deals with climate, or the whole
package; personally, I'd have thought that such a thing would have to
involve the latter option, so bringing in scientists from other
disciplines. The other concern would be to avoid the dangers of
Utopian romanticism and keep discussions on a tight track, i.e., about
real strategies and real policies.

I've had the feeling for a while now that we're at a stage in our
social awareness, and possibly our collective political will, where a
genuine, once-in-generation opportunity exists to make decisions which
will lead to a better world for our descendants. I suspect that such a
feeling drives the commitment of many working in the climate and
environmental fields, when they have time to remember.

Your idea is imprtant enough to take time and thought over. I'd love
to know what others think.
