Dear David,
I have 20+ years experience in hydrology. You have a very simple
point - CO2 at about the same level as today occured in periods of
higher Earth surface temperature - but your conclusion is not
warranted. It is one paper amongst thousands - and the picture is a
whole lot more complex than you and many others are imaginging.
As an electrical engineer - you surely understand what is implied by
the idea of climate as a dynamical and complex system.
