----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Coupers; In reading the Sport Pilot rules summary put out by AOPA, I noticed that the stall speed for aircraft with non lift enhancing devices, i.e. flaps, is 45 knots. Coupes do not have flaps, so we would have to meet the 45 knot restriction, not 39 knots. Additionally, a sport pilot must stay below 2000 feet above the ground. Which means one must avoid cities, due to the minimum 2000 feet altitude rule over populated areas. That would cause me to rethink my flying due to all the towers and airport traffic areas one would have to circumnavigate. However, flying in the bumpy air and avoiding towers, airports, and cities is better than not flying at all.
