My opinion is that the lead in 100LL is responsible for a lot of the
valve
sticking problems small Continentals seem to be so prone too. Deposits
on
the valve stems cause erosion of the business end of the valve guides,
and
the resulting excess clearance provides the room for the deposits to get
in
and jam the stem. Interestingly enough, if your guides are eroded and
you
switch to Mogas, the valves can close crooked and your compression tests
will
net erratic results.

Also, the lead can contribute to plug fouling. Plugs that see only
Mogas are
deposit free.

If you are not comfortable with Mogas, then using TCP is the right thing
to
do. Meanwhile, keep hoping for 82UL or the return of 96 avgas.
