PS I hope I'm dead wrong in my theory, but if we are unable to oppose this
the next time we will be removing all the header tanks, installing

I'll admit to theories of my own, Artie. Ya ever notice how all the AD
proposals for the `coupe come from just down the road from
Univair?

I had first hand knowledge of these events, and was disgusted when before
I had more respect for the FAA. Now I'm willing to believe almost
anything.

Unfortunantly, the Government is composed of People.
Now, as to the Proposed Rule. I have it from a good source that the
"Friendlies" and Univair are not exactly singing from the same
page on this one. Seems Univair is waiting FAA approval of the Service
Bulitain, and the FAA does not "approve" manufacturing
issues. Also, the copy of the Service Bulitain on the Ercoupe Owners Club
page is not the latest one. I do not know what the
differences are, and I can't get a .txt or a .pdf to put up there myself.
My own suggestion is to write/email/call/whatever it takes to the named
person in that Colorado FAA office. Mention John Wright's
credentials and suggestion. Tell `em `bout Dave Vernon's post. We could
get by with a thorough inspection every couple of years,
or a significanlty fewer number of holes in our precious birdies.
