As you speed up the engine, another thing that happens is that the
generator
starts charging.  There is also a relay in the regulator that vibrates
rapidly as the voltage gets high enough to pull it in.  When it pulls in,
it
reduces the excitation to the field.  This cycle can repeat itself in the
thousands of times per second.  One way of testing for this type of radio
noise is to temporarily connect the radio to an independant power source.
Typically this is an extra  battery on the floor.  If the noise stops, it
shows the power input to the radio is the entry point.  If it does not
stop,
it usually indicates the antenna is the entry point.  There is usually a
capacitor on the field line going into the generator to filter the above
described noise.
