Michael,
No doubt these people have removed the data plate for purposes of selling,
since the log books are also gone. You can bet that they are on another
airplane, some where. If you have the "N" number, run it on a search and
you will most likely find where the papers and data plate are. They most
likely also transferred the "N" number to the other airplane, too. This
means you would have to find a like airplane that is salvaged and buy the
logs and data plate in order to get this bird in the air. This also means
you would have to take the "N" number of the salvaged airplane, and there
things possibly can get thick.

Subject: [COUPERS-FLYIN] Missing airframe dataplate

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any
advice in this forum.]----

I am looking to purchase a 415C project to restore however I notice the
dataplate for the airframe is missing. Does anyone have any experience or
recommendations on getting a new one? As far as I can tell the aircraft
has never been wrecked. I contacted Univair and they told me to contact
the FAA to get a letter to send to Univair to get a new dataplate. The
local FSDO said they do not have an agreement in place with Univair and
suggested that I contact an owners club. Another thing that doesn't help
matter is that the airframe logs are also missing. Any help is greatly
appreciated. Thanks
